Red Cat Holdings, Inc. (“Red Cat” or the “Company”), a U.S.-based provider of advanced multi-domain drone and robotic solutions for defense and national security, announced that its subsidiary Teal Drones’ Black Widow™ System has been approved for inclusion in the NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA) catalogue. This approval allows NATO member states and eligible partners to acquire the Black Widow through NSPA-managed channels, including direct catalogue orders and sponsored tenders.
The listing affirms Black Widow’s operational readiness for allied missions while meeting the strict procurement standards required by government customers. While NSPA inclusion streamlines access, the exact quantities, configurations, and delivery schedules will continue to be set by end users under standard NSPA procedures. The milestone also reflects Red Cat’s commitment to providing NATO members and partners with secure, U.S.-manufactured drone technology.
“Black Widow provides allied forces with a rugged, rapidly deployable ISR solution that requires minimal training,” said Geoffrey Hitchcock, Chief Revenue Officer at Red Cat. “Being part of the NSPA catalogue simplifies cross-border acquisition and sustainment, allowing customers to move from requirement to deployment faster. Just as importantly, it ensures NATO forces can operate with a trusted, American-made system that is fully interoperable with allied mission needs.”
Black Widow is a mission-ready small uncrewed aerial system (sUAS) chosen by the U.S. Army as one of two vendors for its Short Range Reconnaissance (SRR) program. Designed to equip warfighters with advanced, networked communications and counter emerging threats, the drone is optimized for tactical intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR), perimeter security, overwatch, and other defense operations. Built in the U.S., Black Widow features:
- NDAA compliance for trusted sourcing and cybersecurity standards
- Lightweight, rucksack-portable design under 3 lbs., deployable by a single operator within minutes
- Teledyne FLIR Hadron 640R EO/IR camera for enhanced day and night operations
- 45+ minutes endurance with encrypted, high-bandwidth communications for secure data transfer
- Modular payload architecture for third-party AI, computer vision apps, 3D mapping, target acquisition, and decision support
- Rugged, all-weather construction with rapid field-repair capability
- Integrated Doodle Labs radio providing secure, long-range communications with EW resistance
- Open ecosystem support and interchangeable payloads for mission-specific adaptability
The NSPA catalogue approval for Black Widow is supported by a three-year contract, with options for two additional years at NSPA’s discretion.
