EHang Holdings Limited, a global leader in Urban Air Mobility (UAM) technology, announced a significant achievement with the successful first flight of its EH216-S pilotless eVTOL in Brazil.
EHang's inaugural trial flight in Brazil occurred in Quadra, located in the São Paulo area, in collaboration with its local operator, Gohobby Future Technologies. This accomplishment is significant for the future of Urban Air Mobility (UAM) solutions in Brazil, which is recognized as the birthplace of Latin American aviation and boasts one of the world's leading aeronautical industries, as well as being one of the largest eVTOL markets globally. Currently, EHang and its local partners have completed over 50,000 safe flights across 17 countries in Asia, Europe, North America, and Latin America.
Recently, Brazil’s National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) issued the Experimental Flight Authorization Certificate (CAVE) to EHang’s EH216-S pilotless eVTOL, allowing for trial operations of the aircraft system in Brazil. Under the framework of ANAC's CAVE certificate, EHang and its local partner and operator, Gohobby, are conducting extensive testing and trial campaigns for the EH216-S in close cooperation with ANAC and the Brazilian Airspace Control Department (DECEA). These initiatives aim to foster the development of Concepts of Operations and Unmanned Aircraft Traffic Management (UTM) systems and services, facilitating the safe and efficient deployment of Urban Air Mobility (UAM) solutions across Brazil.
The first flight of the EH216-S took place at Quadra in the São Paulo region, attended by various Brazilian aviation representatives and members of the media.
“We are delighted to have commenced EH216-S pilotless eVTOL flights in Brazil. This is a significant milestone in EHang's commitment on developing Advanced Air Mobility worldwide. The ongoing test and trial flight campaigns for the EH216-S in Brazil will allow us to accrue a vast amount of data, information, and operational experience which in turn, will pave the way for developing safe, efficient, eco-friendly and accessible Urban Air Mobility for everyone across Brazil and Latin America."
