1 Apr 2026

Cho Yeonghoon, who presently holds the position of Vice President at Thira Robotics and has previously served as Vice President at the Korea Robot Industry Association, has been appointed as the 7th President of the Korea Institute for Robot Industry Advancement (KIRIA).

His official term in office is set to begin on April 1, 2026, marking the start of a three-year tenure filled with responsibilities and expectations. To celebrate this significant milestone, an inauguration ceremony has been organized for the same day. This important event will take place at the headquarters of the institute, located in Daegu, a city famous for its rich cultural heritage. The ceremony will not only welcome him to his new position but also lay the foundation for his future initiatives during his term.

Born in 1964, Cho pursued his education in Electronic and Communications Engineering at Kwangwoon University, where he obtained a solid foundation in the principles of technology. He further advanced his qualifications by earning a master’s degree in Information Security Engineering from Hansei University, which is critical in today's digital landscape. Over the course of his career, he has accumulated extensive experience across both the media and technology sectors, showcasing his versatility and expertise. His previous roles span various positions, including serving as a researcher at Dongyang Telecom, working as a journalist to cover the rapidly evolving IT sector, and assuming leadership positions in several influential industry associations.

He has actively engaged with the robotics field for many years, occupying several senior positions within the Korea AI & Robot Industry Association since 2008. His roles included Director, Executive Director, Managing Director, and ultimately Full-time Vice Chairman, a position he held until May 2024. Recently, he played a pivotal role in driving future growth initiatives at Neuromeka before joining Tira Robotics earlier this year.

The institute had been operating under Acting President Ryu Ji-ho for the past nine months, following the early resignation of former President Kang Cheol-ho in July last year due to personal circumstances.

In his remarks, Cho expressed his gratitude for the appointment, stating that he intends to fully dedicate himself to advancing the nation’s robotics industry and achieving meaningful outcomes through hard work and commitment.
