Agility Robotics, the developer of the general-purpose humanoid robot Digit®, has announced that Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada (TMMC) has entered into a commercial agreement with the company. Following a successful pilot program, TMMC intends to deploy Agility’s Digit robots across its facilities to assist employees in manufacturing, supply chain, and logistics operations.
“Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada has long been a leader in automotive manufacturing innovation,” explained Tim Hollander, President, Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada. “After evaluating a number of robots, we are excited to deploy Digit to improve the team member experience and further increase operational efficiency in our manufacturing facilities.”
Beyond Digit’s current responsibilities, Agility and TMMC will continue evaluating additional applications where robotics and AI can further support automotive production. The companies plan to examine how automating highly repetitive and physically demanding tasks on manufacturing lines can help minimize employee strain, enhance workplace safety, and allow staff to focus on higher-value activities within the facility.

TMMC becomes part of a growing list of Fortune 500 companies worldwide adopting Agility’s humanoid robots, including GXO, the world’s largest pure-play contract logistics provider, Schaeffler, a leader in motion technology, and Amazon.
“Toyota is one of the premier companies in the world; one with a long history of innovation and success, so it’s a privilege to join forces to integrate humanoid robotic solutions like Digit into automotive production,” said Peggy Johnson, Agility Robotics’ CEO. “I look forward to continuing our work with Toyota to identify all the ways that Digit can help the employees working at their production facilities. With our next generation of Digit, we will be the first company to deliver the first cooperatively safe humanoid robot to work alongside people, allowing companies like Toyota to scale their use of humanoids well beyond what is possible today.”
Agility’s portfolio features Digit, a versatile humanoid robot built for logistics and manufacturing environments, along with Agility Arc, a cloud-based automation platform that enables the deployment and management of Digit fleets. In response to ongoing global labor shortages, Digit is capable of handling a wide range of repetitive, process-driven tasks that are often challenging for manufacturers to staff consistently. Designed with a human-centric approach, Agility’s automation solutions integrate smoothly into existing production facilities without requiring expensive retrofits or major infrastructure changes. Furthermore, Digit can continuously learn new tasks and adjust to evolving manufacturing workflows, leveraging AI to rapidly expand and enhance its commercial performance.
