Agility, a leading developer of humanoid robotics and Physical AI technologies, has opened a new facility in Fremont, California, to accelerate the advancement of AI capabilities that enhance real-world operational performance. The new site will serve as the company's software and Physical AI development hub, where engineering teams will train, test, and refine the technologies that enable Agility's humanoid robot, Digit, to acquire new skills and perform increasingly complex tasks in customer environments.
The 60,000-square-foot facility complements Agility's RoboFab manufacturing operations in Salem, Oregon, creating a dedicated Physical AI development center in the heart of Silicon Valley. To support its continued growth, the company plans to hire nearly 200 professionals across AI and machine learning (AI/ML), software engineering, and field operations, strengthening the development and deployment of next-generation AI technologies that further enhance Digit's safety, productivity, and capabilities in enterprise applications.
“Being in the heart of Silicon Valley brings us into one of the world's leading AI talent and innovation ecosystems, allowing us to develop new capabilities for Digit faster and put them to work for customers immediately,” said Peggy Johnson, CEO of Agility. “Being one of the only companies operationally deploying humanoids in real enterprise environments, our Fremont facility will play a critical role in driving innovation that anticipates and delivers on the capabilities our customers need.”
Agility has deployed its humanoid robot, Digit, with leading companies including Schaeffler, GXO, Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada, and Mercado Libre. The company has also secured more than USD 300 million in multi-year orders for the Digit v5 platform, subject to the achievement of certain contractual milestones, while maintaining a growing customer pipeline of more than 30 enterprises. This momentum reflects increasing industry demand for humanoid robots as businesses prepare for large-scale deployment. The new Fremont facility will play a key role in supporting this growth by accelerating the development of AI-driven capabilities that improve safety, productivity, and operational efficiency. As Digit continues to evolve, it will be able to perform a wider range of repetitive and physically demanding tasks in warehouse and manufacturing environments while working safely alongside human employees.
“Fremont is where the future is built. Agility Robotics’ decision to establish its AI development hub here reflects the strength of our talent, our culture of innovation, and our leadership in advanced manufacturing and robotics,” said Fremont Mayor Raj Salwan. “We’re proud to welcome Agility to our community, along with nearly 200 high-quality jobs and continued investment in Fremont.”
Agility is expanding its operational footprint as it prepares for its planned public listing through a business combination with Churchill Capital Corp XI. Upon completion of the transaction, Agility is expected to become the first publicly listed pure-play humanoid robotics company in the United States.
